The requirements indicated below are key components of an effective hearing conservation program. Quite often, these are not all met.

- NOISE LEVEL MONITORING AND/OR UPDATES
- HEARING TESTING: PRE-PLACEMENT, ANNUAL, AND MAKE-UP/ RETESTING
- ANNUAL EMPLOYEE TRAINING
- PROVISION OF SUITABLE HEARING PROTECTION DEVICES
- INDIVIDUAL FITTING OF HEARING PROTECTION
- REFITTING/RETRAINING OF EMPLOYEES WITH CONFIRMED STS's AND RECORDKEEPING / RECORDABILITY ASSISTANCE
- REASONABLE ACCOMODATION FOR EMPLOYEES WITH HEARING LOSS
