Key Hearing Conservation Program Requirements in Alaska

The requirements indicated below are key components of an effective hearing conservation program. Quite often, these are not all met.

• NOISE LEVEL MONITORING AND/OR UPDATES
• HEARING TESTING: PRE-PLACEMENT, ANNUAL, AND MAKE-UP/ RETESTING
• ANNUAL EMPLOYEE TRAINING
• PROVISION OF SUITABLE HEARING PROTECTION DEVICES
• INDIVIDUAL FITTING OF HEARING PROTECTION
• REFITTING/RETRAINING OF EMPLOYEES WITH CONFIRMED STS's AND RECORDKEEPING / RECORDABILITY ASSISTANCE
• REASONABLE ACCOMODATION FOR EMPLOYEES WITH HEARING LOSS
