COVID-19 and Infection Control Precautions

We are aware of the concern our clients and their employees may have regarding the recent outbreak and spread of COVID-19.  In our provision of services, a number of precautions are taken in order to protect the health and safety of those for whom we provide services.

  • Using and/or offering use of anti-bacterial wipes for cleaning of headsets and response buttons
  • Use of disposable, single-use gloves, cleansing of hands with anti-bacterial hand sanitizers, and/or hand washing with soap and water when available.
  • Cleaning of surfaces (such as counters, tabletops, door handles, drawer pulls, otoscopes, pens) using disinfecting wipes.
  • It is our usual protocol to perform otoscopic inspection (visual inspection of the ears) for every employee tested, although it is not a requirement of OSHA.  However, due to the current situation, we have revised our protocol in an effort to minimize contact.  Otoscopic inspection will not be performed as part of the audiometric testing protocol until further notice.

There are also steps individuals should take to reduce their risk of acquiring and spreading any viral respiratory infections.  They include:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands or cough/sneeze into the crook of your elbow if a tissue is not available.
  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces.
  • Stay at home and away from others if you are feeling ill.
